Description

Indulgent layers of chocolate, cream, and graham crackers make this Hot Chocolate Lasagna a winter dessert dream. Creamy textures and rich chocolate flavors combine to create a delightful treat that melts in your mouth and warms cold evenings.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust:

  • 36 Oreo cookies (ground)
  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter (melted)

Filling:

  • 8 ounces (226 grams) cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 (3.8 ounces/108 grams) chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 5 (0.73 ounces/21 grams) instant hot cocoa mix (milk chocolate flavor)
  • 2 3/4 cups (660 milliliters) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 milliliters) heavy whipping cream

Topping:

  • 1 1/4 cups (300 milliliters) heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • Chocolate topping or Nutella (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreo cookies in a food processor until finely ground, including the filling. Combine with melted butter and press firmly into a 9×13 inch pan. Refrigerate for 15 minutes to set the crust.
  2. Whip cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. In a separate bowl, blend heavy cream with hot cocoa mix until forming stiff peaks. Carefully fold whipped cream into cream cheese mixture to maintain airiness. Spread evenly over chilled crust and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare chocolate pudding by whisking mix with cold milk until thickened. Fold in mini marshmallows and distribute uniformly across the mousse layer. Return to refrigerator for 20 minutes to stabilize.
  4. Create whipped cream topping by beating remaining heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread gently over pudding layer. Sprinkle remaining mini marshmallows across the surface.
  5. Refrigerate dessert for minimum 4 hours or ideally overnight to allow layers to set completely. Before serving, drizzle melted chocolate or Nutella across the top for enhanced presentation and flavor.

Notes

  • Pulse Oreos with filling for extra richness, creating a more decadent cookie base that adds depth to the dessert.
  • Ensure cream cheese and butter are at room temperature for smoother, lump-free mixing when preparing the mousse layer.
  • Fold whipped cream gently into cream cheese mixture to maintain a light, airy texture that melts in your mouth.
  • Chill layers completely between additions to help them set properly and create distinct, clean layer separation.
  • Make a gluten-free version by substituting Oreos with gluten-free chocolate cookie alternatives.
  • Prepare ahead and freeze for up to a week, making it perfect for make-ahead dessert planning.
